Afrobeats star Asake has officially released the highly anticipated music video for his album track “MMS,” featuring global icon Wizkid.
Asake, also known as Ahmed Ololade, signed to YBNL record label, joins forces with Wizkid to produce a track that you will have on repeat. This collaboration is part of Asake’s third studio album, Lungu Boy, which has already made waves in the music industry.
The music video, which dropped on October 5, 2024, showcases a stunning black-and-white aesthetic set against the vibrant streets of London. The visuals capture the essence of the song’s infectious rhythm and lyrical depth, further solidifying “MMS” as a fan favorite. Following its release, “MMS” achieved an impressive milestone by setting a new Spotify Nigeria record with over 870,000 streams on its first day, surpassing previous records held by other top Nigerian artists.
Asake expressed his excitement about the release: “Working with Wizkid on ‘MMS’ has been a dream come true. This song represents not just my journey but also the incredible synergy we share as artists. I can’t wait for everyone to see the video and feel the energy we put into it.”
The single “MMS” is a testament to Asake’s unique sound that blends Afrobeats, Amapiano, Fuji, and Hip Hop. Since his breakthrough in 2022 with the Ololade EP, Asake has quickly risen to superstardom, captivating audiences worldwide with his dynamic performances and hit tracks.
In addition to its commercial success, “MMS” has received critical acclaim and currently sits at No. 1 on the TurnTable Top 100 chart. Asake’s recent sold-out tour across the United States—including iconic venues like Madison Square Garden—further underscores his status as one of Afrobeats’ most prolific hitmakers.
